Like the Academy Awards in West India, the Filmfare Awards carried forward its legacy by celebrating its 69th anniversary on January 29 in the state of Gujarat, where several artists, especially from Bollywood, were present and some were rewarded for their notable works.

However, there is a lot of stir happening among the audiences regarding the nominees and winners of The Last Light in some particular categories. But here's the discussion about the category that raised a storm, i.e., “Best Actor in the Leading Role (Male),” which has become a hot topic among audiences and their mixed opinions about Ranbir Kapoor winning in this category.

As we all know, Vidhu Vinod Chopra's “12th Fail” gained huge popularity and love from audiences by the end of 2023, thereby raising popularity for the entire cast and crew, especially Vikrant Massey. When Filmfare announced Ranbir Kapoor as the winner of Best Actor in the lead role, netizens raised the issue that Vikrant Massey was not even considered in the nominations and mixed opinions on the winner.

Though Sandeep Vanga Reddy's movie ‘Animal’ earned many mixed reviews among audiences, Ranbir’s ability to play such complex and multiple characters in the film cannot be unnoticed. One can also notice how in Vanga’s cinema, every lead male is just more than morality, i.e., pushing every boundary to face their inner demon. So Ranbir's winning in this category shouldn't be a question in the first place.

On the other hand, Vikrant Massey's character.

Dr. Manoj Kumar Sharma isn't a fictional character where writers and actors' ability to give more layers to the character is limited as going beyond the character can lead to shifting focus from the actual event as the 12th fail is a real-world story.

Some netizens commented that Vikrant lacks the ability to play such complex characters as Ranbir in ‘Animal’.

But throughout his acting career, Vikrant has given some amazing performances in series like “Death in the Gunj” and “Criminal Justice,” where he did his best to depict the complexities of these characters.

Also, Ranbir's stellar performances in ‘Rockstar’ and ‘Sanju 'cannot be disregarded. Both have been phenomenal in their respective places. Though playing a character in any form of visual content has a lot to do with the writing and plot of the stories, let us know your opinions in the comment section.
